DESCRIPTION:Visit the event web page to see full event details and register! \n\n\n\nAbout the Webinar\n\n\n\nPeople with disabilities have fought for decades to secure greater access to voter registration\, polling places\, voting systems\, absentee and mail-in voting\, voter assistance\, and other parts of the electoral process. Those efforts have resulted in important legal protections and significant progress\, but barriers to full and equal participation remain. \n\n\n\nWe Count: Disability Voting Rights in Western Pennsylvania will bring together disability advocates\, voting rights leaders\, and public-sector representatives for a two-hour online program exploring the history\, current challenges\, and future of disability voting rights. \n\n\n\nThe webinar will include: \n\n\n\n\nA brief presentation on the history of disability voting rights advocacy\, including the role of Western Pennsylvania advocates in expanding voter access\n\n\n\nA keynote address examining current disability voting rights\, policy and enforcement challenges\, and opportunities for action\n\n\n\nA moderated panel discussion exploring barriers affecting voters with disabilities\, including polling place accessibility\, transportation\, institutional voting\, mail-in voting\, ballot curing\, voter assistance\, and differences in implementation among counties\n\n\n\nPractical information about voter rights\, responding to accessibility problems\, and becoming involved in efforts to strengthen voting access\n\n\n\n\nThe program is intended for people with disabilities\, advocates\, service providers\, nonprofit and community organizations\, public officials\, and anyone interested in disability rights\, voting access\, and civic participation. \n\n\n\nThis webinar is made possible through funding from the Three Rivers Community Foundation.
