Recognizing Leadership and Advocacy in Our Community

We are excited to share that two outstanding advocates with strong ties to the Western Pennsylvania Disability and Action Consortium, Tina Calabro and Mark Steidl, will be honored by the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh for their dedication and impact. The awards will be presented at the Emmaus Roarin’ 20s Gala on March 22, 2025, celebrating Emmaus’ mission of fostering a community where people with and without disabilities live and thrive together.

🎉 2025 Ken Wagner Award for Outstanding Service – Tina Calabro

This prestigious award honors individuals who have devoted their lives to supporting and uplifting people with disabilities. Tina, our very own Outreach & Preservation Manager, has spent decades as a writer, parent, speaker, and advocate, amplifying the voices of people with disabilities. Her renowned newspaper column, “Breaking Down Barriers,” ran for 12 years in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, raising awareness and creating change.

🌟 2025 Future Voices Award – Mark Steidl

The Emmaus Future Voices Award recognizes rising leaders making a significant difference in their communities. Mark, an advocate and activist, co-founded Self-Advocacy Voices and serves on the Board of Disability Rights PA. He has worked tirelessly to promote inclusion and justice across the disability and LGBTQ+ communities.

Please join us in congratulating Tina and Mark on these well-deserved honors!
